How much do you make per hour?

Written by: admin (8) comments so far... What's your take?

Have you ever heard the phrase "work smart instead of work hard" ? I ask this because recently I had a couple people tell me that they were under the impression that I made a lot more money as an adult webmaster than I actually do. When I asked them what gave them that impression, they each said it’s because I have been doing this for 4 years full time and that they always see me online. I explained to them that yes, I have been doing this full time for a while now but things get easier as you learn more. And that just because I am pretty much always available to chat does not mean I am sitting here writing code all day.

That being said, things are a lot different now. My tgp network is established, my traffic is solid and my sties are stable. My blog network is pretty much run by my full time writer. My new projects take me far less time to develop and launch due to the knowledge I acquired over the last few years. So really, I don’t actually work as much or as hard as most people.

I new from the beginning that I did not want to be sitting in front of my PC for days at a time plugging away. I got into this biz. to not only make good money, but to also be able to chill out and work at my own pace. I have a home office so my commute consists of getting out of bed and walking down the hall. My "uniform" usually consists of boxers and a t-shirt. To me, not having to answer to a boss and to be able to work whenever, wearing whatever is priceless.

But to some people it’s obvious that the amount of money you make is the most important thing in life. So I decided to crunch some numbers and see how much money I actually make per hour. I normally work 1, sometimes 2 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. So on a busy month, I’ll put in a solid 52 hours. And like I said, that’s a VERY busy month. On average I make $6,000/month. Doing the simple math (6,000 divided by 52) I make appx. $115/hour. And that’s during a busy month. There are times that I’ll go 2-3 days without doing any work at all and still make anywhere from $3-800 during that time.

I was a little surprised myself when I did the math and realized how much I make an hour. $115-300/hour is damn good money in my book. I am going to be launching some really big new sites in the coming weeks/months and I can only hope that my income will grow with each site. Hopefully, by the end of the year if all goes well I’ll be grossing $1,000/day while still working 1-2 hours a day.

Thank you for this good post! I have been doing TGPs for a long time, making about $2,000.00/month at the best. Now, i have never been working full time on this, but I slowly starting to understand the “working smart” part!
Right now I have to rebuild much as I was offline for a long period of time due to illness. And it is damn hard to “start over”. But, reading your posts and seeing realistic amounts and not the amounts that I sometimes hear on boards (40k+/month) gave me the belive that IF I work smarter and starts to listen to guys like you, that know this business, I might get back to $2k soon!
Will bookmark this site and keep reading it!

1 - 2 hours per day average … why are you so lazy? stop playing computer games and chatting in forums.
u have more still to achieve, so why not put in a few more hours each day to get them achieved ? adult is a dying industry, u should try harder to make money now while u still can.

lol, I know, I know. I live at the beach in S. California. It can be difficult to work at times, especially when I look out the window and see everyone outside partying. My goal is to get to the point where I am making $1000/day and if it requires me to work more, I definitely will.

I prefer to look at my profits and gross per month over hourly cause I really don’t want to find out it really averages out to only $6 an hour

I make about $150 a day.

Blog posting: All hand written. I have found that RSS blogs don’t get shit for traffic and the thumbs are atrocious so no click through… It takes me 15-20 minutes to create a pic and write a post with about 220-400 words in 4 to 8 paragraphs… In 1 year said post will make me about $80 and each successive year another $60 per year. That is $240 - $360 per hour… Makes you wonder why I don’t post more often huh?
